Ring in the New Year with First Night

– by Cara Aungst

Mark your calendar now for First Night State College on December 31, 2021. First Night is an alcohol-free celebration of the arts and New Year’s possibilities in downtown State College that’s been a fixture on the Centre County holiday calendar for over twenty years.

2014 Procession 7

First Night State College is known for displays of giant ice sculptures on the 100 block of South Allen Street and in Sidney Friedman Park. In addition, almost one hundred smaller ice sculptures are on display at other locations in downtown State College.

First Night presents music and theatrical performances in churches and public buildings in downtown State College. Be a part of the show by joining in our procession of giant papier-mache puppets!

If your New Year’s resolution is to get moving, you won’t want to miss the 5K Resolution Run or ice skating at the Pegula Arena. Or, if your idea of moving involves a car, you won’t want to miss our county-wide holiday decorations contest.
