29th annual Centre Furnace Mansion plant celebration
State College, PA – The Centre County Historical Society warmly invites the community to join us for the 29th Annual Plant Celebration sale hosted by the Centre Furnace Mansion Gardeners, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the historic Centre Furnace Mansion from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. rain or shine.
Bring your gardening queries, plant samples or identification questions for Penn State Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners of Centre County. Master Gardeners will be on-site from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. throughout the Plant Celebration.
The Plant Celebration promises an array of native and non-native plants sourced from local and regional growers, including selections potted from the Centre Furnace Mansion Gardens. Whether you're in search of herbs, annuals, perennials, trees, or shrubs, you'll find a diverse selection available for purchase. Fuel your enthusiasm with coffee, tea, and delicious baked goods from Standing Stone Coffee Company, also on hand during the event. Visit www.centrehistory.org/plant for a complete list of vendors.

- Plant Sale: Explore a vibrant display of plants and garden-related items for sale, presented by Centre Furnace Gardeners and 11 local vendors.
- Books & Garden Items: Delve into a selection of books and garden-related items available for purchase in the Mansion's Hearth Room.
- Open House: Centre Furnace Mansion, gardens, grounds, and new archive room open for visitors to explore.
- Live music in the Mansion’s parlor provided by ensembles from the Grace Lutheran Church.
- 10:30 a.m.–Noon – The Whistle Tones (flute quartet)
- 12:30-1:30 p.m. – Fair Winds III (flute/clarinet/bassoon)
- Exhibition and sale of rural-themed photography by R. Thomas Berner
- Ask a Master Gardener: Seek guidance from Penn State Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners of Centre County ready to answer questions, and identify, and evaluate plant samples.

The Centre Furnace Mansion is located at 1001 E. College Avenue, State College, PA 16801. Event parking is available on the lower lawn along College Avenue, as well as in the Mansion lot off of Porter Road.
