Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society Offering Numerous Rides this Fall

If you want to see some Fall foliage this year without driving, the Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society will be providing relaxing and fun rides throughout Centre County during the month of October.

Celebrate

Train enthusiasts will have three rides to choose from this October: the Woapalanne Arrow, the Nittany Valley Flyer and the Mountain's End. Each ride offers a unique opportunity to see the brilliant fall colors of Centre County. The Woapalanne Arrow and the Nittany Valley Flyer offer multiple ride options.

The Woapalanne Arrow,

October 19 and 20, 2024

The Woapalanne Arrow departs from and returns to the Bellefonte Train Station. The multi car will traverse the Bald Eagle Valley, affording views of brilliant fall colors. Learn about local points of interest including history of the indigenous Lenape people and highlighting tribal Chief Woapalanne (pronounced wop-oh-lonnie, meaning Bald Eagle). There are five rides of varying lengths, destinations and ticket price to choose from: Sayers Dam/Curtin Village 10:00AM, Tyrone 2:00PM, Mill Hall 11:00AM, Dale Summit 2:30PM and Soaring Eagle Wetlands 5:00PM. Note the 5:00PM ride will take us into evening so it’s a sunset ride.

The Sayers Dam/Curtin Village trip includes a 1 hour layover at Curtin Village and covers admission to Apple Fest. Details about Apple Fest can be found here: https://www.curtinvillage.com/

The Tyrone trip also includes a 1 hour layover.

The Nittany Valley Flyer

The Nittany Valley Flyer offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a short trip and experience fall foliage along the Bellefonte branch line. Onboard, our crew will provide historical insights into the area and its significance for the surrounding rapidly growing businesses. These scenic rides departing from and returning to the historic Bellefonte Train Station feature alternating destinations of Axemann and Milesburg. Departure times are every hour on the hour from 11:00 AM through 4:00 PM. Odd hours will travel to Axemann, even hours to Milesburg. The entire trip will take approximately 30 minutes. You will be seated in Budd RDC-1 #9167.

Mountain’s End

Mountain’s End is a 2.5 hour journey to Lemont with a 30 minute layover at the historic Lemont Granary. Learn about the history of the Granary and other points of interest along the Bellefonte branch line. You will be riding in Budd RDC-1 #9167. Three departure times are available: 10:00AM, 1:00PM and 4:00PM.
