CELEBRATE CAVE WEEK, Now until June 8, 2024
Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks is joining cave enthusiasts from around the world to celebrate the International Day of Caves and the Subterranean World and National Week of Caves and Karst.
The goal of International Cave Day is to inspire greater appreciation and stewardship of cave and karst landscapes. These critical and fragile ecosystems supply fresh drinking water for billions, provide key habitats for important species, and serve as an economic driver in communities through tourism.
Caves are Popular
Today, with nearly 150 million visitors, caves are among the most universally visited natural formations around the world. Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks have provided an insight into the wonders of the underground world for over 90 years, often serving as the first exposure to the importance of karst landscapes for thousands of visitors.
From Europe to Australia to South and North America, show caves like Lincoln Caverns bring families together to experience our natural environment. Caves can spark a child’s interest in science, potentially inspiring a lifelong love of discovery and exploration. Educational information about caves and karst landscapes is available on our website and the Lincoln Caverns & Whisper Rocks You Tube Channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJeikZ93otmxjYO_cqzi12Q
“Everyone is touched by caves and karst. Water, food, cultural history, and scientific research that supports all of our lives and benefits everyone on the planet,” noted George Veni, Past President of the International Union of Speleology.
We are looking forward to sharing our passion for caves with our guests, as well as using this opportunity to fascinate, educate, and inspire them to visit more caves around the world.
