Civil War Weekend in Bellefonte
Experience history come to life this summer in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. From Friday, June 6, to Sunday, June 8, join fellow history enthusiasts for the Civil War Weekend at locations throughout this historic town, including the statue of Governor Andrew G. Curtin.

The Civil War was our country’s attempt to reconcile tensions troubling our Nation embedded in its very Constitution. Despite the bloody sacrifice, unmatched in our domestic history, these stresses have persisted through smoke, fire, and suffering until today.
Whether or not we are ever able to settle them, it is fitting and proper that we not “study war no more” but rather strive to understand the deep roots of our troubles. The Civil War Weekend in Bellefonte offers exhibits, an encampment, demonstrations, lectures, music, recreations of essential speeches, cemetery tours, a train excursion to Eagle Iron Works and Curtin Village, and even a Civil War era dinner—all endeavoring to help us see more clearly the attempted resolution of our ills that began 164 years ago. The Weekend’s organizers aspire to help you learn about the past to better imagine our future.
Featuring lectures by respected scholars and a Civil War-era dinner, the Colloquium is the premier event of Civil War Weekend in Bellefonte.
