Discover unique winter exhibitions at the Bellefonte Art Museum
The Bellefonte Art Museum invites travelers and residents to experience two captivating exhibitions this winter, celebrating art, culture, and the natural beauty of our region.
From now through Jan. 26, 2025, the museum will feature an exhibition in partnership with The Spring Creek Watershed Atlas. Local artists will showcase works highlighting the beauty and significance of our water resources and ecosystems. Through a variety of mediums, artists interpret the watershed's natural landscapes, recreation, history, and challenges. Participating artists include Susan Nicholas Gephart, Joanne Juhl, Cinda Kostyak, Alice Kelsey, Anne Kenyon, Jeff Mathison, Jeanne McKinney, and Jennifer Shuey.
Running concurrently now through Feb. 23, the museum will host a special exhibition on Kumihimo, the traditional Japanese art of braiding and cord-making. New York artist Carolyn Kerr blends fine silk threads, Japanese glass beads, and precious stones to create pieces that balance refined sophistication with playful details. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the history of Kumihimo while admiring Kerr’s intricate designs.
Both exhibitions are open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m. Visit the Bellefonte Art Museum and immerse yourself in art that connects local heritage and global traditions.
