Restaurants, diners gear up for Happy Valley Restaurant Week
With just a few weeks left before Happy Valley Restaurant Week kicks off, June 16–25, both local gourmands and restaurants alike are looking forward to 10 packed days of culinary fun throughout the region, and for good reason. With new restaurants participating in the event for the very first time (like the newly opened, French-inspired diner in downtown State College, Oeuf Boeuf et Bacon), an extended event timeline (up from seven days in past years to 10 days for 2023), and near-endless ways chefs can show off their chops via limited-time, event-only menu offerings of their choice — well, let’s just say there’s a whole lot to look forward to.
In Hublersburg, Hublersburg Inn is always a Happy Valley Restaurant Week favorite, having participated in the event for the last five years.
“It brings new customers out, people that maybe haven’t been here before. It’s also nice because people in State College come out to Hublersburg for a change,” owner Andi Biddle said.

For those who aren’t new to the restaurant already know what makes Hublersburg Inn special, including one of the top-favorite outdoor dining spaces in the county, and regular events that liven up your weeknight dinners — some of which you can catch during Happy Valley Restaurant Week.
“We’ll have live music on Thursday. Our whiskey and cigar night is on [June 20] … We do pizza on the patio on Wednesdays, where we have our woodfired pizza oven on the patio going throughout the summer,” explained Biddle. “So, in addition to Restaurant Week, we’ll have other things that people like to come out for, too.”
Similarly, RE Farm Café has participated in Happy Valley Restaurant Week every year since opening in July 2019.
“We love sharing our unique experience with people, and this week offers opportunities for folks to try new places and enjoy great food. People connect around a meal in a special way and dedicating a week to dining out is a creative way to develop those relationships,” said RE Farm Café co-owner Monica Gastiger.
Beyond RE Farm Café’s lauded culinary offerings and culinary event lineup, one of the elements that has helped the restaurant grow its ardent fanbase is its farm-side setting, something that diners will be able to see in its full summer glory during Happy Valley Restaurant Week.
“Everyone can expect great flavors showcasing the freshly harvested items from our farm and other local farms. Guests are welcome to take a farm tour and see how and where their food is grown,” said Gastiger. “Every day brings a newness at RE Farm Café. Because we have such a beautiful space and nature shares beauty in different moments, we can expect spectacular sunsets, farm bounty composed into delightful dishes and lightning bug shows that rival the 4th of July some nights!”
Can’t make it to great restaurants like these in time for Happy Valley Restaurant Week? There are still plenty of amazing culinary experiences and delights to be had in Happy Valley all summer long.
Hublersburg Inn, for example, recently launched its seasonal summer menu, including, as always, the crowd-favorite tacos, alongside other limited-time menu items like a smoked salmon flatbread, pan-seared halibut, brisket sandwich and a poke bowl. The restaurant also always has a full calendar of events, from live music on the patio to beer tap takeovers to exclusive chef’s dinners.
RE Farm Café, meanwhile, is hosting a children’s farm-to-table summer day camp in July, wherein kids ages 6 to 12 can learn how food makes it from the fields to the kitchen. You can also catch Thursday tapas and live music, four-course prix fixe menus on the weekends and other special offerings throughout the season.
