Rothrock Trails hosts Ugly Sweater Race

– by Guest Writers

Don’t miss out on the late-season Tussey Mountain MTB Race session of Seasons of Rothrock and finish the year strong. This race is an opportunity to make new friends in a unique grassroots mountain biking culture while testing your skills on a challenging course.

Ugly Seater

Rothrock trails can be ugly…riddled with rocks and roots. But like an ugly sweater, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! For those of you hungry for a challenge, this is a great way to wrap up 2024.

Will it be festive?

YES! You and your friends can get into the holiday spirit to compete for most festive with ugly sweater kits, Santa hats, reindeer antlers, bells and more. Get creative! Race volunteers will even join in on the fun!

Will it be a challenge?

For most, YES! We’d never call Tussey Mountain easy. You’ll test your skills along the way on bridges, rock gardens, log crossings and super fun and twisty descents. With 2 distances (Full 20 or Short 9), there’s something for seasoned racers and newbies…or consider the Short a bailout if your sleigh runs out of “Christmas spirit!”

What is it like?

Here’s a video from the Greenwood Furnace MTB race. See what kind of fun and challenging experience you should expect this December!

Will there be a party?

YES! We’ll trade gears for beers, don festive attire and celebrate all the ugly wins and loses along the way. Don’t miss the Podium party, free food, beer and race awards.

We’ll also have special awards for most festive rider, most festive team and more.

Why race with us?

It’s not about us.

Seasons of Rothrock is a non-profit that has donated more than $54,000 to local cycling and community service-based organizations since 2021. The races are organized by Happy Valley Women’s Cycling, and local cycling clubs and bike shops volunteer to make these races happen…all with a hope that you’ll leave loving our backyard trail and gravel system as much as we all do.
