Bellefonte's Victorian B&Bs

Step back in time without giving up the modern amenities you love! Bellefonte is brimming with Victorian bed and breakfasts that will help you get away from it all, without leaving the 21st century. The Reynolds Mansion carriage house suites and boutique hotel rooms are luxurious, offering guests the opportunity to enjoy a soothing soak in a huge jetted tub, plush robes, complimentary beverages, mood lighting, and more — all within a majestic structure that resembles a castle! Nearby, Our Fair Lady brings a contemporary feel to the Victorian experience with fresh, airy rooms and elegant eats. The Queen — located directly across from Our Fair Lady — is another Victorian gem, with a traditional style 19th-century parlor (and fireplace!), a gourmet full breakfast, and charming gardens. In the heart of downtown Bellefonte is the Bellefonte Bed & Breakfast, housed within a classic, federal-style brick home. The B&B features three themed rooms, a cottage, free parking, and a private garden. Riffles and Runs Bed and Breakfast is an ode to the community's unique fly-fishing opportunities. It's walkable to the waterfront walkway (with fishing access) on Spring Creek, as well as downtown shops, restaurants, and other attractions. Another option for those looking to immerse themselves in history is The Gamble Mill, recently completely renovated and reimagined as a restaurant, bar, inn, and suites. Above the hopping Creekside Restaurant and The Republic bar are “sophisticated and timeless” rooms and suites to accommodate single travelers and groups alike.

The Nature Inn is a bit further afield from State College, but having been voted “the #1 Eco-Lodge in the nation,” it’s worth the drive. Located within Bald Eagle State Park, the inn provides “16 overnight guest rooms and multiple meeting spaces, sweeping lake views, and comfortable modern accommodations and amenities.” If you require some serious R&R, the Nature Inn, with peace-inducing patios and balconies overlooking the lake, should be your next refuge. The restorative power of nature is literally outside your door at the Nature Inn, and as the park is a sanctuary for wildlife and humans alike, it’s easy to see why the inn is so popular with artists and all nature lovers.
