Ten Thousand Villages State College
Ten Thousand Villages State College, located at 1341 South Atherton, hosts a world of fairly traded gifts, clothing, home décor, jewelry, accessories, art, organic coffee and chocolate and more.
By offering a unique, maker-to-market shopping experience featuring beautiful items handcrafted by artisans around the world, their shoppers are assured that all merchandise was handmade by fairly compensated adults in safe working conditions.
Ten Thousand Villages has established partnerships with more than 20,000 makers in 30 developing countries. Their goal is to create sustainable incomes, lifting families out of poverty and providing for good housing, health care, and education.
In addition, they care for the earth by using locally sourced, recycled, and renewable materials in their products to minimize their environmental footprint. They invest in partnerships that empower communities by choosing to work with women, people with disabilities and others often excluded from the global economy.
Ten Thousand Villages State College is currently greatly expanding its offerings by doubling its plaza footprint while taking over an adjacent storefront. A grand reopening celebration is scheduled for October. (Ten Thousand Villages, 1341 South Atherton, State College; 814-954-5043)
