The Makery at the Museum Opening January 7, 2022
The Bellefonte Art Museum for Centre County and The Makery of State College are pleased to announce the opening of “The Makery at the Museum”, a dedicated, delightful children’s art studio on the second floor of the Bellefonte Art Museum.
At the Bellefonte Art Museum for Centre County, we continuously seek new ways to enhance our community outreach by providing opportunities for children and families to interact through art. Over the years, we have provided several summer camps, children’s workshops and independent activities to generate creativity and provide an outlet for expression. This new partnership with The Makery of State College will further enhance our programs and our community reach.
“This bright, inspiring space will mirror the creative aesthetic of its sister studio, The Makery, a non-profit community art studio based in downtown State College. Since 2015, The Makery has provided creative classes, workshops and events to children and families in Centre County”.
Amy Frank, founder and director of The Makery of State College
Beginning January 7th, families can enjoy self-led art activities within “The Makery at the Museum” during the Museum’s public hours: Friday through Sunday, 12:00-4:30 p.m., and by appointment. These activities will reflect the Museum’s eclectic exhibits and will change quarterly. In addition, The Makery at the Museum will offer periodic workshops and classes in this new studio space.
This new endeavor is a mutually beneficial partnership and allows for two creative outlets to join forces and work hand-in-hand to provide enrichment to our communities. We look forward to seeing you at the museum to enjoy the many exhibitions as well as try out some fun and creative activities in the “Makery at the Museum”.
