The initiation cycles of the Bidjogo people of the Bissagos Islands of Guinea-Bissau make use of a variety of powerful creatures from the land and sea, including sharks, hippopotami, swordfish, and bovines. Each set of islands utilizes different creatures and has somewhat different initiation procedures

A concert featuring popular local musicians will benefit five agencies working to increase housing security and fight homelessness in the Centre region. The second annual “Gimme Shelter: The Concert for Housing Security in the Centre Region” will be presented at the South Hills School of Business and Technology in State College on Thursday, February 6, 2025, starting at 6 p.m.
