State College Spikes Unveil 2025 Home Schedule

The State College Spikes’ 2025 schedule has been released, with a slate of 40 regular season home games starting with Opening Night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Friday, June 6 against the West Virginia Black Bears. The 2025 home schedule will run through Thursday, August 28, when the Spikes, the team with the best overall record in the Major League Baseball Draft League in 2024, face the defending MLB Draft League champion Williamsport Crosscutters.

Centre Stage Offering New Musicals for a New Generation

New Musicals for a New Generation celebrates ten years of commissioned musicals that have been created through the New Musicals Initiative at Penn State. Featuring seven Musical Theatre students and a four-piece live band, this musical revue of scenes and songs is directed by John Simpkins, music directed by Connor Crotzer Scartascini, and choreographed by Natalie Malotke, Madison Palmer and Johnny Fenton. Selections from each of the previous nine years of commissioned musicals will be featured on the program. Penn State Centre Stage hopes you will join us to celebrate some of the most exciting new voices and songs written for the American Musical Theatre!

Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra Offers Folk and Dance Music

Be inspired to get up and dance as you are transported to Spain, Romania, and beyond! The Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra opens the season in Spain with Manuel de Falla’s comedic Three Cornered Hat Suite, followed by American composer Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs featuring baritone soloist Michael Hanley. Hungarian composer Béla Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances will immerse you in the folk music of Transylvania, and this concert ends with Schubert’s energizing Symphony No. 3. Get ready to tap your feet and cheer with this season opener.

Slavery & the Underground Railroad in South Central Pennsylvania - Book Signing and Talk

Cooper Wingert, historian and author of 10 books about the Civil War and the Underground Railroad, will present Slavery and the Underground Railroad in South Central Pennsylvania, Sunday, September 22, 2:00 p.m., at the American Philatelic Society, Bellefonte. Based on new archival research, this talk will illuminate how the Underground Railroad consisted of white and Black people whose actions were more open than many think.
