Ailey II, the next generation of dance, will bring its 50th-anniversary world tour to Happy Valley. Led by Artistic Director Francesca Harper, the company’s return Penn State performance will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in Eisenhower Auditorium.
This year marks Lincoln Caverns' 94th Anniversary as a show cave AND our 35th year of offering great programs for great Girl Scouts! By providing activities that are both engaging and educational, Lincoln Caverns offers girls of all age levels an opportunity to learn and make memories that will last a lifetime. Programs are available year-round in our indoor Learning Center. Event dates for smaller groups are now available throughout the Scout year. Larger Troops are welcome to schedule customized programs for their group anytime.
Cooper Wingert, historian and author of 10 books about the Civil War and the Underground Railroad, will present Slavery and the Underground Railroad in South Central Pennsylvania, Sunday, September 22, 2:00 p.m., at the American Philatelic Society, Bellefonte. Based on new archival research, this talk will illuminate how the Underground Railroad consisted of white and Black people whose actions were more open than many think.

When Eagle Iron Works stopped producing pig iron in 1921, it had been the longest-operating cold-blast charcoal ironworks in Pennsylvania. During its 112-year run, which included one year of work after smelting ceased, the works smelted and forged iron throughout a period of massive change in Centre County and the United States, surviving long after the iron and steel industries had evolved.
