Elevated on a hill overlooking busy College Avenue, the Centre Furnace Mansion has witnessed a lot. Now serving as the Centre County Historical Society’s (CCHS) headquarters, the mansion offers a glimpse of what life was like when Happy Valley was just beginning to develop.

Las Cafeteras, known for its protest songs and use of traditional instruments to connect cultures and generations, will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of free community events starting Oct. 9.

As the official tourism promotion agency for Centre County, The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau (HVAB) has plenty of inspiration for ways to enjoy the beautiful valleys and unique communities that comprise our big Happy Valley. Start by adding fall fun to your list at some of the county’s most popular farms and farm markets.

The Emmet Cohen Trio will conjure the intimate club vibe of “Live at Emmet’s Place” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Eisenhower Auditorium. Armenian-born vocalist Lucy Yeghiazaryan will join the musicians for the trio’s third performance for the Center for the Performing Arts.

On Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7, The Arboretum at Penn State will hold its 11th annual Pumpkin Festival. Attendees can look forward to a pumpkin giveaway, a jack-o'-lantern contest, a lighted jack-o’-lantern display, live music, crafts, a food court, and much more.
