“How Can You Beat It?” Aaron Weyman Talks Tussey Mountain Fun

After Aaron Weyman graduated from Penn State, he worked for the athletic department for a short time and then accepted a job at Tussey Mountain. That was 14 years ago, and the magic still hasn’t worn off. “It's hard to name another big time school that can see ski slopes from their campus,” he says. “Then add in outdoor concerts, events and activities in the warm months, located right at the entrance to a gorgeous state forest like Rothrock... how can you beat that?”

“African Designs: Creating Wearable Art” at the Bellefonte Art Museum

African women and men have evolved their styles from historical designs and made wearable art to accommodate their modern lives. Styles and designs created and worn by African women and men have influenced western fashion and appear on everything from handbags to formal attire and despite their popularity many fashion designers and buyers are unaware that these are African patterns that represent a rich history of great and ingenious people. The Bellefonte Art Museum features an exhibit in January and February 2022 of fabrics and objects of wearable art made from a variety of materials using historic designs created by artisans of cultures within the many countries of the African continent.

Greg Guise puts a new meaning on the term ‘active retirement.’ After graduating from Penn State and working as a videographer in Detroit and then in Washington, D.C. for 40 years, he’s back in Happy Valley. And when I call him, he’s climbing Rattlesnake Mountain to install communications gear for the amateur radio community. It’s “just a way of giving back,” he says just before he drives out of cell phone range. When he calls back, he tells me just why community is so, so important. Read on.

STATE COLLEGE SPIKES’ 2022 SCHEDULE FEATURES MOST REGULAR SEASON HOME GAMES EVER

(STATE COLLEGE, Pa.) – The State College Spikes’ 2022 Major League Baseball Draft League schedule has been released by the league. The Spikes’ second MLB Draft League season will feature an expanded 80-game slate that includes 40 home games, the most for a regular season in franchise history, starting on Friday, June 3 and running through Sunday, September 4.

On Wednesday, November 3rd, brothers Chris and Jonathan Virgilio celebrated the official ribbon cutting of the newly revitalized historic Gamble Mill in Bellefonte, PA. Dating back to 1786 the Gamble Mill’s history is an important chapter in the story of historic Bellefonte that has found new life along the Downtown Riverwalk.
