State College, PA – Central Pennsylvania Stories, a new anthology of 41 historical articles by local historian Ralph Seeley, has just arrived at Centre Furnace Mansion and is now available to the public. Published for the Centre County Historical Society by Mt. Nittany Press, the book’s varied stories cover Centre County and nearby locales from the 17th through 20th centuries.

“One Community, Forever A Home” logo portrays the cozy feeling of Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. (Apr. 23, 2022) — Penn State Homecoming revealed their 2022 Logo for the first time on Saturday, April 23, 2022. The Homecoming Executive Committee unveiled the logo during halftime at Penn State’s annual Blue and White Football Game in Beaver Stadium. The new logo was selected to reflect Homecoming’s 2022 Theme, “One Community, Forever A Home” which was revealed this past February.

Before Elvis. Before Johnny Cash. Before Little Richard. There was Sister Rosetta Tharpe. At a time when almost no woman dared to front the stage with a guitar, Sister Rosetta did. Starting with a 1932 National resonator guitar to her now-famous 1961 white Gibson Les Paul SG Custom. Confident and sanctified, she was one of first successful crossover artists from gospel to the mainstream music world.

Lee Anne Jeffries is deeply rooted in Happy Valley. She grew up in the area, went to Penn State and now heads the Downtown State College Improvement, a live, work, and play neighborhood that sparks the creative, the eclectic, and the local. “Happy Valley is home and I care deeply about this town, it’s a special place,” she says.

The Columbus Chapel & Boal Mansion Museum announces this year’s Spring Classical Music Series beginning Sunday, April 24, with Piano Duo Azul, featuring Hyeyoung Song and Amy Gustafson playing piano four-hands. The concert will be held in the Mansion Ballroom at 3 pm.
