On November 6, Penn State alumnus and actor Patrick Fabian will be appearing at the Centre Film Festival at the Rowland Theatre. And when Filmmaker and Festival Director Pearl Gluck reached out to Fabian to invite him to the festival, she already knew about both his extensive acting career and his connection to Happy Valley … or so she thought. As it turns out, the stories — and film magic — were so much better than she could have imagined.
On November 5-7, the historic Rowland Theatre will once again be a place for telling stories as it hosts the Centre Film Festival. The movie palace is the area’s longest running theatre, entertaining and captivating the community through stories since 1917. This fall, the venue will showcase local stories, bringing filmmakers and films to the Happy Valley community. Some films will be available virtually from November 1.

The planned events for the 200th anniversary of Philipsburg’s Old Mud Church will not be taking place over the summer of 2020 due to restrictions of the COVID-19 epidemic. But this doesn’t mean the old church has been forgotten. A number of on-line celebrations will be hosted on the new website of the Philipsburg Historical Foundation, soon to be announced.
